(Spirit Lake)– Fundraising efforts for the restoration of the Mini Wakan State Park shelter house and to establish endowments for both the Mini Wakan and Gull Point facilities have received a boost.
It was announced today (Fri.) an anonymous donor has issued a $120,000 matching gift challenge to supporters of the projects. That means all contributions to the Mini-Wakan project received by September 30th will be matched up to a total of $120,000, effectively doubling donations.
To date, $750,000 has been raised through grants, pledges and outright gifts. An additional $250,000 is needed to meet the one million dollar goal and provide endowments for both Mini-Wakan and Gull Point.
An upcoming fundraising event titled “Works of Art for State Parks” Sunday, August 29th from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Gull Point State Park Lodge. The event includes a brunch buffet, champagne tasting, live music, talks from history experts and art auctions. There will also be silent and live auctions of artwork by lakes area artists.
