Dickinson Supervisors Approve Plans & Specs On Lower Gar Project

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– The Dickinson County Board of Supervisors this (Tues.) morning approved plans and specifications for the Lower Gar Outlet project that consists of the installation of two additional culverts that are six inches over the height of the weir.

The action didn’t come without hearing from representatives of the city of Milford. Mayor Don Lamb again expressed concerns he has over the project and questioned its necessity.

The proposed plans and specifications now go to the Milford City Council, which also must sign off on them as the city has partial jurisdiction over the proposed project.

It was also reported at this (Tues.) morning’s meeting the necessary permits from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the DNR have been received. However, eight people, most of them downstream on the Little Sioux River, have filed comments with the DNR regarding the matter. Two stated they are in favor of the project; one wanted more information; and five are against. They still have time in which to file for a court injunction to delay the project, which the county wants to get done this fall.
