(Arnolds Park)– A weekend fire caused an estimated $30,000 to $40,000 in damage to the Dry Dock in Arnolds Park.
Jim Hentges of the Arnolds Park/Okoboji Fire Department says firefighters were called to the scene around 1:30 p.m. Saturday and found light smoke exiting the building. A fire was found burning in the bathroom area of one of the rooms.
Firefighters quickly knocked the blaze down.
The fire resulted in damage to the roof of the structure, a hallway outside the room and the adjoining room’s bathroom. Smoke damage was reported to other rooms on the same floor as well as to the Dry Dock Lounge and Restaurant.
Hentges says no staff or guests were injured in the fire and that alarms were actively sounding.
A problem with an electrical appliance in the bathroom where the fire originated was determined to be the probable cause.
Firefighters were on the scene about three hours.
The Arnolds Park/Okoboji Fire Department was assisted by the Milford Fire Department, the Arnolds Park and Okoboji Police Departments, Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office and paramedics from Lakes Regional Healthcare.
