November 22, 2014

(Everly)– Two men caught harvesting pot in a road ditch in Clay county face charges.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy on routine patrol came across a vehicle east of Everly shortly before 7:00 p.m. last Thursday and observed two men harvesting marijuana in a ditch. Upon further investigation the two men were discovered to be in possession of more than five pounds of pot, some of which was already in the backseat of the vehicle.

The two men, identified as 50-year-old William Collins and 57-year-old Richard Haller…both of Hartley…were booked into the Clay county jail on charges of possession of a controlled substance…marijuana…a serious misdemeanor; and a drug tax stamp violation…a class “D” felony.

Clay County Sheriff Randy Krukow encourages the public to be on the lookout for subjects harvesting wild marijuana this time of year and to report it to authorities.
