(Spencer)– A collision Thursday involving a truck and an S-U-V sent one person to the hospital.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says 18-year-old Brandy Heeren of Spencer was driving a 1996 Jeep Cherokee westbound on 370th Street when she lost control and went into the south ditch.
Authorities say 48-year-old Jerry Menke of Spencer was driving a 1993 Ford pickup eastbound when he saw Heeren go into the ditch. Menke attempted to make a right turn onto 140th Avenue to get out of the way. Heeren’s vehicle then hit the shoulder of the intersection and became airborne, striking Menke’s vehicle on the driver’s side.
Menke was taken by ambulance to Spencer Hospital by Everly Fire and Rescue. There was no immediate word on the extent of her injuries or condition.
No injuries were reported to Heeren, who was cited for failure to maintain control and no insurance.
Two thousand dollars in damage was estimated to the Jeep Cherokee driven by Heeren; the pickup driven by Menke was totaled.
The collision took place around 6:15 p.m.
