(Undated)– A late season severe weather outbreak Wednesday drenched the region with as much as five inches or more of rain. And some areas were pummeled with large hail…just as the harvest was getting underway.
1.96 inches of rain fell at the KUOO studios as of 6:00 a.m. this (Thurs.) morning. That’s light in comparison to some other areas. Jackson, Minnesota received 3.4 inches and Windom, Minnesota had 5.3 inches. The National Weather Service says a broad band of four to five inches of rain fell across northern Nobles and Jackson counties, where flash flood warnings were in effect awhile Wednesday night.
Large hail accompanied the downpours in some areas–especially to the west and southwest of the Iowa Great Lakes. Nickel to quarter-size hail covered the ground in portions of Osceola and O’Brien counties.
Even more rain is in the forecast today (Wednesday).
