(Spirit Lake)– Another Dickinson county farm has been recognized as a “Century Farm” by the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship and the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation.
Wayne and Glatha Langel each received a “Century Farm” certificate and yard sign at this year’s Iowa State Fair.
To be designated a “Century Farm”, a family must have owned atleast 40 acres for 100 years or more.
346 farms throughout Iowa were recognized this past weekend. 16,932 farms have received the desingation since the program got its start in 1976.
In addition, Margaret Arthur, Mary Pollack and Sue Spatz from Dickinson county received a “Heritage Farm” certificate to recognize families that have owned a farm 150 years or more.
