(Spirit Lake)– A major announcement Sunday from the Bedell Family YMCA. CEO Norm Johnson announced the facility is expanding. He says they’ll be opening The YMCA Healthy Living Center” in the former Cardio Plus building in Spirit Lake.
In addition, Johnson says Dan Tryon, who formerly owned and operated Cardio Plus, has been hired as the Y’s Wellness Director.
Johnson says the arrangement is a win-win not only for the YMCA and Tryon, but for the community as a whole. He says this is the first in what the Y hopes will be a series of community collaborations.
The announcement was made Sunday evening during a community event at the Sami Center to unveil a new branding strategy and the increase understanding of the impact the YMCA makes in communities.
Johnson says this is the first time in 43 years the Y is being revitalized.
