SL Firefighters Respond To Tree Fire

November 22, 2014

(Orleans)– A tree fire Sunday evening in Orleans set the Spirit Lake Fire Department in action.

Fire Chief David Kollasch tells KUOO news firefighters were called to an address on Sunset Drive in Orleans. He says upon arriving they found flames shooting some 30 feet up into the air out of a tree.

Kollasch says a garage and cottage were nearby, but they managed to contain the blaze to the tree itself.

No injuries were reported.

Kollasch says it isn’t certain as to how the blaze got started, but he says it may have been the result of a leaf or brush fire that spread.

Firefighters were on the scene about a half-hour.

Because of the very dry conditions, area fire chiefs remind residents to use extreme caution if they’re going to do any open burning.
