(Greenville)– A Sioux Rapids man faces charges in connection with an incident last Friday at a bar in Greenville.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called to the scene around 11:45 p.m. after getting a report of a fight. While enroute to the scene, deputies learned one of the parties involved was sotuhbound on Highway 71. Deputies caught up with the vehicle and identified a passenger as 47-year-old Todd Nissen of Sioux Rapids, who matched the description of a man who allegedly committed the assault.
Witnesses told deputies Nissen entered the bar already intoxicated. He was asked to leave but refused. Nissen then confronted one of the customers in the bar and allegedly assaulted him.
Nissen was placed under arrest and was transported to the Clay county jail where he was charged with assault and public intoxication.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Spencer Police Department and the Iowa State Patrol.
