(Okoboji)– A french pilot who’s flying a small specialty aircraft around the world has made his way to the Iowa Great Lakes.
Thierry Barbier and his co-pilot, fellow frenchman Claude Cordelle, landed their plane Sunday evening at the Spirit Lake Airport. Barbier, who already has flown over places like the African continent, Madagascar, French Guyana, Cuba, Central and South America to name just a few, says the goal of his around the world flight is this…(click here for comment from Barbier.)
Barbier and Cordelle spent Sunday night in the Iowa Great Lakes after having spent the previous night at the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota. Barbier says they were flying over northwest Iowa when they spotted the Iowa Great Lakes from high above…(click here for comment from Barbier.)

From here, Barbier says they plan to fly further east across the U.S., including places like Oshkosh, Wisconsin, Chicago, Niagra Falls, New York, Montreal, and Quebec, then back to Wisconsin for the annual air show in Oshkosh in late July. After that, he says he’ll take four to five months off and will return to France to raise money for the next leg of his trip.
