(Spencer)– Preliminary financial information presented at the Clay County Fair Association’s annual meeting earlier this week show the venue will end the year on a positive note financially, despite an investment of nearly $100,000 in capital improvements to the fairgrounds. Projects in 2012 included installation of a new permanent sound system in the grandstand; purchase of the giant slide; new roofs on the stables and the historic main gate; major electrical upgrades to “Food Row” and the grandstand; bleacher improvements to the Outdoor Arena and additional dirt for the race track.
45 employees, representing a combined 495 years of service to the Clay County Fair, were recognized. Four received recognition for 30 years of service while two others were honored for 50 years.
Fair Secretary/Manager Jeremy Parsons unveiled the theme for the 2013 Clay County Fair: Bushels of Fun. It will be held September 7th-15th.
