(Spencer)—A weekend traffic stop in Clay county resulted in charges being filed against two Estherville residents.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy pulled over a vehicle shortly after 3:30 p.m. Saturday for a traffic violation. Upon investigating it was discovered the driver, 33-year-old Antonio Ibarra-Meza of Estherville had a protection order against him with the protect party being 34-year-old Maria Perez-Busani of Estherville. Upon further investigation it was determined Perez-Busani had given the deputy a false name. Ibarra-Meza was arrested for violation of a no contact order. Authorities say Ibarra-Meza attempted to pull away as the deputy was trying to direct him to the patrol car. Ibarra-Meza was redirected and was placed into the patrol car without incident.
Upon further investigation authorities discovered open containers of alcohol in the vehicle.
Perez-Busani was arrested and booked into jail on charges of interference with official acts and open container.
Ibarra-Meza was booked into jail on charges of speeding, operation without registration, no insurance, open container, failure to maintain license plates, interference with officials acts and violation of protection order.
