Projects At Two Area Airports Awarded State Funding

(Ames)—Projects at a couple of local airports were awarded funding today (Tues.) by the Iowa Transportation Commission’s approval of the 2014 State Aviation Program. It makes available $3.6 million for aviation safety, planning and airport development projects at 26 airports throughout Iowa.

Locally, the Emmetsburg airport will receive $10,500 for pavement maintenance with a total cost of $15,000; $113,458 to construct a taxilane to a new hangar at a total cost of $226,906; and $100,000 to construct a new hangar which has a total cost of $529,170.

The Spencer airport will receive $36,000 to rehabilitate some hangar approaches.The project has a total cost of $45,000.
