Bur Oak Blight Workshop To Be Held This Weekend At Lakeside Lab

November 22, 2014

(Wahpeton)– Space is limited for a workshop at Lakeside Lab this weekend.

A workshop this Saturday at the Iowa Lakeside Lab on West Lake Okoboji will address the Burr Oak blight disease that is occurring with some of the trees in the Iowa Great Lakes Area. Lab Executive Director Peter Van Der Linden says a top expert will be speaking at the workshop…(click here for comment.) “Saturday we have Tom Harrington who is probably the leading expert on this Burr Oak blight disease. He’s the one who named it. He’ll be coming from Iowa State and giving a slide show about the disease and about other related problems with oaks, give people some pointers on how to take care of their trees. Then I’m going to speak afterwards briefly about re-planting oaks. This will be held at 1:00 at Mahan Hall at Lakeside. We do require reservations because the space is not unlimited, and we’re starting to get full.”

Van Der Linden adds that with the limited space, reservations should be made as soon as possible…(click here for comment.) “We have atleast three quarters of the seats already taken, so folks do need to give me a call right away if they want a spot. They can do that by calling me and if I don’t answer leave a voicemail message. That number is 337-3669, extension 5. And it’s important that when they call and leave a voicemail that they leave their phone number.”
