(Spirit Lake)– A collision involving three motorcycles Sunday on Highway 9 near 270th Avenue in Dickinson county sent one person to the hospital.
The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office says the three were traveling westbound in a group and that the lead motorcycle was intending to turn south onto 270th Avenue. Authorities say the following two didn’t recognize that the lead bike was turning and ran into it.
20-year-old Eli Lacour and 51-year-old Gerald Lacour…both of Worthington…were treated on the scene for minor injuries and released. 55-year-old Galen Krogman of Lismore, Minnesota was taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare with incapacitating injuries.
$800 in damage was estimated to a 1981 Yamaha driven by Eli Lacour; a 2003 Honda driven by Gerald Lacour sustained an estimated $1,300 in damage and $3,500 in damage was estimated to a 2002 Yamaha Krogman was driving.
Authorities say Eli Lacour was cited for failure to stop within an assured clear distance.
The collision took place around 2:30 p.m.
The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Spirit Lake and Arnolds Park Police Departments, Lakes Regional Healthcare ambulance and paramedics and the Spirit Lake First Responders.
