Crowds pack Clay County Events Center for Clean Line forum

November 22, 2014

(Spencer-)

A forum on wind energy was held at the Clay County Events Center in Spencer on Tuesday, where representatives from Clean Line Energy Partners and the Iowa Utility Board discussed the Rock Island Clean Line project, which is a proposed 500 mile transmission line that will deliver wind power from northwest Iowa to Illinois.

The project is massive, and could bring 7 billion dollars in new wind farm investments along with thousands of jobs. However, it is not without controversy, and is meeting some resistance with property owners, who have questions about compensation, access and the impact on their property values.

About 200 people packed the Clay County  Events Center for the forum.
