Okoboji Varsity and JV competed at the Spencer Early Bird tournament last night. Okoboji JV squad swept the JV tournament going 3-0 beating Manson NW Webster, Spencer and South O’Brien. Okoboji Varsity went 1-2 on the night beating South O’Brien, while falling to Spencer and Manson NW Webster.

Overall, I was pleased with our play, but it definitely was able to show some of our weaker areas that we need to work on going forward. We served tough all night and were able to get teams out of system quite a bit.
Makenna Helmers was a staple to our defense recording 32 digs on the night while Olivia Lorenzen added 24.
Carson Thelen did a nice job running the offense and recorded 36 assists. Layla Schwager had 5 aces for us, Kahla Peters had 4 and Carson Thelen had 4.
We will be back in action at our home quad on 8/30 with Sibley-O, ELC and West Bend Mallard.
