Indians Finish Regular Season Undefeated

Spirit Lake finished the regular season undefeated after taking down
MOC-Floyd Valley 33-0. The Indians closed out the regular season with an
overall record of 9-0 and a district record of 6-0.

The Indians jumped on the board quickly after blocking
MOC-Floyd Valley’s punt in the first two minutes of the game. Josh
Hofstra then rushed for an 11 yard touchdown on Spirit Lake’s first
offensive play.
The Indians added two more scores in the second
quarter. Tyler Jenness caught a 6 yard pass from Alec Henrickson for a
touchdown and Henrickson ran one in from 10 yards out. Spirit Lake led
19-0 at the half.

Caleb Jennings returned the second half kickoff
93 yards to the house, his second kick return touchdown of the season.
On the following kickoff, Spirit Lake recovered what essentially turned
out to be like a 40-yard onside kick. The Indians got to the ball before
the Dutchmen did, and they capitalized with a 6 yard Josh Hofstra
touchdown carry a few plays later.

Neither team scored in the final 22 minutes of the game. The Indians held on for their fourth shutout in the last six games.

The first round of
the playoffs are Wednesday, October 29th and Spirit Lake will once again host MOC-Floyd Valley.
