The Lakes Conference has named Spirit Lake-Okoboji senior Emma Straus as its girls’ tennis Player of the Year. Straus had a conference record of 6-2 at number one singles, tallying 135 points. That put her 14 points ahead of Parissa Barnes of Cherokee for the top spot. Straus was the Lakes Conference tournament champions at number one singles and has an overall record of 14-3 this season.
Emma and her SL-O teammates were Lakes Conference dual meet champions compiling a perfect 9-0 record during the regular season. Straus and her doubles partner Izzie Wycoff will be competing in the state tournament this Friday and Saturday in Iowa City.
