WBM Ends HLP's Football Season 45-6 In West Bend
West Bend-Mallard ended Harris-Lake Park's season with a 45-6 win in the second round of 8 Player Playoff football on Monday night. The Wolverines scored less than 90 seconds in the game off a 16 yard touchdown run by Jeff Riesenberg. The PAT was no good, making it 6-0. Both teams would trade punts and Jordan Kyle recovered a fumble for the Wolves at their own 25 yard line, but the Wolverines scored on the next play thanks to an 30 yard interception return for a touchdown by Riesenberg. After a two point conversion it was 14-0 WBM. In the second quarter, the Wolverines recovered a fumble and then scored on a seven yard run by Riesenberg. An interception by Dalton Knobloch at the Wolves 30 yard line quickly resulted in a two yard touchdown run by Travis Fehr. Jack Fehr later added a 30 yard touchdown catch and WBM led 37-0 at halftime. In the second half, an interception by Jack Banwart gave the Wolverines the football back and Nolan Grimm caught a 24 yard touchdown pass to make it 45-0 after the two point conversion. HLP did get a fumble recovery by Hunter Akers in the fourth quarter and that led to a 13 yard touchdown reception by Jordan Kyle with 4:04 to go to get the final score.
WBM had 227 yards rushing. Riesenberg had 100 yards on the ground. He rushed for two touchdowns and threw for two touchdowns as the Wolverines improve to 10-1. They will play Friday night in the semifinals of the 8 Player Playoffs as they will host MMC. HLP had just 105 yards of total offense in the loss. Ryan Gembler and Skylar Cudmore each recorded a sack. The Wolves' season ends at 6-5 and they say goodbye to seniors Cudmore, Gembler, Kole Ruml, Javier Tapia, and Brady Van Iperen.
