Bailee Newman led off the season with a home run, and Spirit Lake won in convincing fashion Tuesday night at home over Okoboji 13-1 in 4 innings. Newman finished the night going 3-3 at the plate with 4 RBI. She also pitched all 4 innings, holding the Pioneers to 3 hits and 1 unearned run. Whitlee Reitz also reached 3 times, going 2-2 with a walk and 1 RBI. Emily Wintz was 2-2, and had the lone RBI for Okoboji. Savannah Heithus took the loss, but did strike out 4 Indians thru 4 innings. Next up for Spirit Lake is a road trip to Newell Fonda on Wednesday. Okoboji travels to Sioux Center Wednesday.
