Spirit Lake tops Forest City
For the second week in a row, the Spirit Lake Indians took advantage of big plays to bring home the win as they knocked off the Forest City Indians 35-25.
After struggling in the rushing game last week, Spirit Lake's first two offensive possessions only needed two plays and 21 seconds as they jumped out to the early lead. The first play for the Spirit Lake offense was a 66 yard touchdown carry by Caleb Jennings. On their second possession, Tyler Jenness took it 63 yards to the house. Austin Folsom also added a 14 yard touchdown reception in the first quarter. Spirit Lake led 21-6 after one quarter of play.
Forest City outscored Spirit Lake 13-7 in the 2nd quarter, with Spirit Lake's lone touchdown coming after Forest City attempted an onside kick and Dallas Poock returned it for a touchdown. Spirit Lake led 28-19 at the half.
Each team scored once in the second half. Caleb Jennings had Spirit Lakes only second half touchdown, a 64 yard reception. Spirit Lake defeated Forest City by a final of 35-25. The Spirit Lake Indians begin district play Friday, September 12th as they travel to take on Central Lyon/George-Little Rock.
