Spirit Lake moves on in post season tournament

Spirit Lake opened their boys basketball tournament run Monday night, beating Algona 70-47. Sophomore Billy Brown paced the offense with 28 points. Trevor Smith added 16. The game marks the second in a row Brown hit the 28 point mark. Luke Terhark was the only Bulldog in double figures. He finished the night with 17. Spirit Lake improves to 16-6, and will next face MOC Floyd Valley. The Dutchmen ended Spencer’s season last night with a 72-44 win over the Tigers. The next round takes place in Sheldon Thursday night at 7. You can hear the game on KUOO. On the other side of the substate 1 bracket, Sergeant Bluff Luton needed overtime to beat Storm Lake 80-77. And Sioux City Heelan took down Lemars 88-56. Sergeant Bluff and Heelan meet Thursday night at Sioux City West.
