South O’Brien Defeats Emmetsburg In A Defensive Football Contest

Emmetsburg received the opening kickoff and started at their own 15 yard line.  3 plays later they were forced to punt and South O’Brien would start at the Emmetsburg 45 yard line.  The wolverines drove down the field and capped off the drive with a 4 yard touchdown run by Zach Nieman with 5:47 left to go in the first.  The extra point was good and that made it 7 – 0 and that would be all the scoring that South O’Brien would do.  After stops on defense by both teams, Emmetsburg broke open a 75 yard touchdown run by Allen Jensen with 2:12 left to go in the 2nd quarter to get them on the board.  The E’hawks would go for 2 and miss, leaving them 1 yard shy.  It would go to half time with that score and remained that score in the end.  In the fourth quarter, Emmetsburg did put together a drive that eventually stalled at the South O’Brien 20 yard line with under 4 minutes to go.  South O’Brien would take over and punt away with 80 seconds left to go and pinned Emmetsburg back at their own 20 yard line.  The E’hawks could not get anything going and the game would end.

Emmetsburg was led by Allen Jensen with his 167 yards and 1 touchdown.  South O’Brien was led by Zach Nieman and his 142 yards and 1 touchdown.  The E’hawks were held to 256 yards of offense and the wolverines were held to just 223 yards.

Emmetsburg falls to 4 – 4, 4 – 1 and will host Lemars Gehlen next Friday on Y 100.  South O’Brien improves to 7 – 1, 4 – 1 and will host Hull Western Christian next Friday
