Sioux Central Defeats Okoboji In Football

Sioux Central’s powerful running game and more injuries took their toll on Okoboji Friday night in Albert City as the Rebels defeated the Pioneers 50-22. The score was 14-7 Sioux Central midway through the second after Okoboji’s Tyeson Barnett returnerd a 95 yard kickoff return for a touchdown. The Rebels then tacked on two more scores and never looked back.

Sioux Central’s Devin Tripp rushed 41 times for an impressive 298 yards. He had four touchdowns in the contest. As a team, the Rebels had over 450 yards on the ground. They improve to 4-3 (2-2) and host Fort Dodge St. Edmond’s next Friday.

Okoboji quarterback Jacob Dodge threw the ball well in place of the injured Alex Heller. Dodge was 12-for-23 with 147 yards, 1 touchdown, and 1 interception. Jordan Hanna caught five passes for 103 yards. Barnette also ran in a 14 yard touchdown for the Pioneers. Okoboji is 0-7 (0-4) and travels to Western Christian next week.
