MOC-Floyd Valley overcame a 12-7 halftime deficit with two second half touchdowns and edged Okoboji 21-12 in Milford on Friday Night. The Pioneers got on the board first with a 28 yard field goal by Jake Dodge with 9:18 to go in the first half. With less than two minutes to go before halftime, Dodge caught a 21 yard touchdown pass from Matt Eckard to put the Pioneers up 9-0, but they would miss the extra point. The Dutch then responded with a 47 yard touchdown pass from Brady Schutt to Trevor Daily and narrow the lead to 9-7. The Pioneers got the ball back and drove to the MOC-FV 35 yard line, and as time expired at the half, Dodge hit a 50 yard field goal to put Okoboji up 12-7 at halftime.
In the second half, MOC-FV came out strong in the third quarter, driving 80 yards and Trevor Huss scored on a three yard touchdown run with 8:30 to go in the third quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Pioneers drove to the Dutch 25 yard line but this time missed a 39 yard field goal into the wind. The Dutch later got some insurance on the scoreboard courtesy of a four yard touchdown run by Schutt late in the fourth quarter.
Huss had 30 carries for 150 yards and a touchdown for MOC-FV. Schutt rushed 14 times for 92 yards. He had touchdowns through the air and on the ground for the Dutch, who improve to 3-2 (1-1). They host Cherokee next week. Okoboji’s offense was led by Noah Bouse. He had 22 carries for 116 yards and he also caught two passes for 54 yards. Brandon Svoboda caught three passes for 84 yards. The Pioneers had 338 yards of total offense. The Pioneer defensive line played well in the contest, forcing two Dutch fumbles. Okoboji, now 1-4 (0-3), travels to Central Lyon/George-Little Rock next Friday.
