Maddison Woodruff Named Iowa Conference Softball Pitcher of the Year
The Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its all conference teams and major awards for the 2014 softball season on Monday May 5. Coe college senior and former Emmetsburg prep, Maddison Woodruff has been named the Iowa Conference softball Pitcher of the Year for the second straight year.
Through 36 games, Woodruff has posted a 20-2 record, a 1.90 ERA, 157 strikeouts, 3 shutouts and 17 complete games in 25 appearances. She started 7 Iowa Conference games for Coe and made cameo appearances in 2 others, finishing with a 7-1 record, 2.32 ERA and 56 strikeouts.
Woodruff's 157 strikeouts this season rank 13th in school history, while her 20 wins are tied for 10th. Both are career single season bests. Her record at Coe is 60-17 on the mound and that ranks 4th all time at Coe heading into the NCAA tournament.
Woodruff also made the 1st team as a Pitcher.
