The Iowa Lakes Community College women’s soccer team hosted
the Iowa Central Community College team Tuesday at Spencer Soccer Complex. Iowa
Central took a 3 – 1 lead into half time. The wind played a big part in the
match with the Lakers having a hard time mounting an attack going against the
wind. However, Kelsey Tonge was able to score the lone goal before the half
time whistle. The wind played tricks on the Lakers, who were looking to use it
the second half to even up the score, by dying down and was not much of a
factor. A penalty kick on a controversial call against the Lakers was the only
score of the second half. Final score Iowa Central 4 Iowa Lakes 1.
Iowa Lakes
is now 3 – 5 overall and 3 -3 in the conference, which is good for
3rd place behind Iowa Central and Iowa Western. The Lakers next
match is Saturday at home against the national champion Iowa Western
team.
