The Iowa Lakes Women were in action for the final round of the Region 11 golf
tournament. For Iowa Lakes Tressa DeBoer came back from a 102 first round score
to shoot a 94 in blustery conditions. Tressa finished in 16th place. Cassie Galm
shot a 100 after a first day score of 97 finishing in 17th place. DeBoer missed
qualifying to the National Tournament by 1 stroke while Galm missed qualifying
by 2 strokes. Both needed to place in the top 15 to earn a spot to the 2014
Women’s NJCAA National Tournament.
Both DeBoer and Galm are sophomores at
Iowa Lakes. DeBoer from Hartley, IA is currently a Nursing student and will
graduate this summer with her Associates Degree in Nursing after two years and
will become a Registered Nurse. Galm from Spencer, IA is an Ag Transfer student
and will transfer to Iowa State University where she will be an Ag Education
Major.
“Both these young women will be very successful in their lives. They were pretty quiet on the ride home and replayed both days and said they
could’ve saved a few strokes here and there. I am proud of the way they have worked
both on and off the course. They are great young women and I feel very proud to
have coached them.” Said Coach Andy Soper.
