The Iowa Lakes Men’s and Women’s Golfers played at their home Invitational held
at Brooks Golf Club in Okoboji, IA.
For the Women Cassie Galm
from Spencer came in with a 95 placing her in a tie for 12th place. Tressa
DeBoer from Hartley, IA shot a 97 placing 14th place. Tournament was won by
Minnesota State Mankato who shot a team score of 329.
On the
Men’s side the Lakers continued there play from the past weekend at Buena
Vista’s Invite placing second place in the Iowa Lakes Spring Invitational.
Leading the way was Sophomore Austin Sweeney from Sutherland, IA carded a round
of 76 placing in a tie for 5th place. Harley Snelson from Perth, Australia came
in with a 78 finishing in 7th place. Jordan Sogard from Jewell, IA and Blake
Orton from Heyward, WI carded rounds of 79 to finish in a tie for 8th place.
Non-counting score was Joe Dakken from Forest City, IA with an 81 finishing in a
tie for 11th place. Individually Nathan Kyle from Lake Park fired a round of 75
to finish in a tie for 3rd place.
“We had great weather today
sunny 65 wind blowing 5-10mph great conditions for playing golf. Nate played
really well today and has been putting a lot of hard work in and the results
were there today. Big thing on the day was we need to continue to work on
limiting the big number on a hole. We will get back at it tomorrow the women
have a short turn around as Regionals will be play this coming Friday and
Saturday.” Said Coach Soper
Next action for the Women’s Team will
be Friday April 25th and Saturday April 26th when they travel to the Region XI
golf tournament held at Otter Creek Golf Course in Ankeny. The Laker Men will
play next Monday the 28th when they play at Cold Water Golf Club in Ames.
