HLP Softball Advances In 1A Postseason (1)

Harris-Lake Park endured a 10 minute rain delay and took advantage of nine
Trinity Christian errors en route to a 9-3 win in Class 1A Region 1 softball
play on Monday night.  The Wolves took a five run lead off five Tiger errors in
the second and then gave a run back on an error in the bottom of the inning to
lead 5-1 when a rain delay stopped play midway through the third.  Following the
break, Trinity Christian would get eight hits, but only bring in a pair of
runs while H-LP used a couple hits and more Trinity errors to plate four more
runs of their own.
 
Macy Gunderson got the win on the mound.  She pitched all seven innings,
giving up three runs (one earned) on nine hits.  She struck out seven and walked
one.  Offensively, Katherin Ihnen went 1-for-2 with a run.  She also reached on
two walks and an error.  Zayda Elbuytari was 1-for-4 with a run and 2 RBI.  Gunderson was 1-for-2 with a walk, a run scored, and a RBI.  H-LP is 13-18 and
moves on to face LeMars Gehlen Catholic on Wednesday in LeMars.  You can hear the

Kayla Kooima took the loss on the mound.  She gave up all nine runs (four
earned) on five hits.  She struck out seven and walked eight.  Shania Kooiker was
2-for-3 with a run scored for the Tigers.  Trinity Christian finishes at 3-21.
