HLP Basketball Splits With HMS

Noreen Morrow crossed the 1000 point threshold and Harris-Lake Park pulled away from Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn for a 56-42 non-conference win on Monday night in Lake Park.  Morrow needed 12 to get to the impressive milestone and finished with 24 to lead all scorers.  Miranda Brueggeman had 14 for H-LP.  H-M-S struggled from on the offensive end of the floor for most of the night.  Jaylin Rieck led the Hawks with 12 points.  H-M-S committed 19 turnovers to the Wolves’ 15.

H-LP is 11-4 and they will host West Bend-Mallard in a contest you can hear Tuesday night on Q102.  H-M-S falls to 9-5 and travels to conference foe South O’Brien on Tuesday night.

Boys

H-LP hung with H-M-S for three quarters but then went cold offensively and the Hawks picked up a 63-53 non-conference road victory on Monday night.  The Hawks led 13-12 after one, 32-27 at the halftime and 40-35 after the third quarter.  Three players were in double figures for H-M-S with Blake Simons at 18, Casey Dorhout at 16, and Brian Perez with 13.  The Wolves also had three players in double figures.  Brady Van Iperen had 18 including 10-for-10 at the charity stripe.  Jordan Kyle was not far behind with 16, while Cole Bosma had 13 for the Wolves.

H-LP drops to 6-7 and they host West Bend-Mallard Tuesday.  H-M-S improves to 7-6 and travels to South O’Brien Tuesday.
