Okoboji started off the contest with the football and would put together a drive that saw the Pioneers go all the way inside Emmetsburg’s 10 yard line. Eventually Okoboji would have it 4th down and goal and make the decision to go for a 21 yard field goal. It would get blocked and Emmetsburg would take over at the 20 yard line. On the very first play from scrimmage for Emmetsburg, Allen Jensen went 80 yards for the score which put Emmetsburg up 7-0 with 6:15 left to go in the 1st. The E’hawks would hold the Pioneers on the next series of downs and then on the 2nd possession, take it down the field and cap if off with a 19 yard pass from Zach Anderson to Greg Wesley and put them up 14-0. The E’hawks would score again in the second qtr to go up 21-0 at half. No one would score in the 3rd and in the fourth the E’hawks put on a field goal by Jake Miller to go up 31-0. Okoboji would get on the board with 21 seconds left in the game on a 2 yard touchdown run by Austin Fox to make it the final score of 31-6.
Emmetsburg had 419 yards of offense with 353 of those coming on the ground. They were led by Allen Jensen and his 143 yards and 2 touchdowns and Greg Wesley with 108 yards rushing with 1 touchdown and 19 yards receiving with 1 touchdown. Okoboji had 169 yards of offense and the 2 yard touchdown run coming from Austin Fox. Alex Heller was 6-18 passing for 55 yards.
Emmetsburg improves to 2 – 2, 2 – 0 and will host Manson NW Webster for homecoming on Friday. Okoboji falls to 0 – 4, 0 – 2 and will be at South O’Brien Friday
