Emmetsburg opened up an 18 – 6 lead on Storm Lake Tuesday night and never looked back cruising to a 60 – 14 victory. Storm Lake would only score 2 points in the second half and shot just 12% for the game. Emmetsburg would shoot 61% from the floor and had 9 different players score. They were led by Ashton Connelly with 18 points and Tegan Olson with 17.
The E’hawks have won 4 in a row and are now 4 – 1, 3 – 0 and will be at Hull Western on Friday. Storm Lake drops to 1 – 6, 1 – 2 and will be at Spencer Thursday.
Boys
In the boys contest, it was a quick start for Emmetsburg that proved to be the difference as the E’hawks jumped out to a 23 – 16 lead after the first quarter and would maintain that lead all the way to the end by defeating Storm Lake 67 – 60. Emmetsburg had 8 different players score and shot 55% for the ball game. They were led by Erik Drost with 28 points and 12 from Michael Pugh. Storm Lake was led by Yach Deng with a game high 29 points. The Tornadoes did knock down 9 three pointers in the loss.
Emmetsburg gets their first conference win of the season and stand at 2 – 3, 1 – 2 and will be at Hull Friday. Storm Lake falls to 0 – 5, 0 – 3 and will be at Spencer Thursday.
