Girls
Emmetsburg held North Union scoreless for the first 5 minutes and 40 seconds of the game and led 8 – 4 after the first quarter. The E’hawks would push their lead to 24 – 16 at the break and hold on to beat the Warriors 46 – 39 Monday night. Emmetsburg was held to 2 points in the third quarter and North Union would get to within 1 point heading into the final 8 minutes. Emmetsburg would outscore North Union 20 – 14 in the final frame to win by 7. Emmetsburg was outstanding at the line hitting 16 – 22 for 73%. Alexa Naig led the E’hawks with 17 points. North Union was led by Sara Rolling with 14 points.
Emmetsburg has won 2 in a row and improve to 6 – 4 and will host Estherville Friday on Y 100. North Union falls to 6 – 4 and will host Manson on Thursday.
Boys
The Emmetsburg boys came out of the gates fast leading 23 – 13 after the 1st quarter. They would score 20 more in the 2nd quarter and led 43 – 19 at halftime. North Union would outscore Emmetsburg 44 – 31 in the second half but the E’hawks would win 74 – 63 on Monday night. Emmetsburg shot 49% for the game and nearly had 4 players in double figures. They were led by Erik Drost with 24, Austin Krause with 16, Mike Myers with 15 and Thomas Schultes with 9. North Union did have 4 in doubles led by Jacob Braddock and Aric Runge each with 15 points.
Emmetsburg is now 5 – 5 and will host Estherville Friday. North Union falls to 2 – 10 and will host Manson Thursday.
