Class 2A Boys District Basketball From Saturday February 22

Class 2A District 2 From Hull

In the first game on Saturday, Estherville jumped out to an early lead agasint Hartley Melvin Sanborn and continued to score as the midgets beat the hawks 76-62.  ELC would score 19,19,20 and 18 points in each of the quarters. 

They would be paced by 4 players in double figures, Carsten Bosch with 18, Joe Heinrichs with 16, Justin Heinrichs with 13 and David Hughes with 12.  Hartley Melvin Sanborn was led by Daniel Heitritter with 17 and Blake Simons with 16 points.  The hawks season ends at 12-10 and say goodbye to seniors Evan Metzler, Casey Dorhout, Nathan Westphal, Logan Rozeboom and Ryan Flynn.  Estherville improves to 12-11 and advance


In the second game, it featured a third game this season between Lakes conference opponents Western Christian and Emmetsburg.  For a 3rd time this year, HWC was to much for Emmetsburg beating the E'hawks 92-60.  It was the 1st quarter that set the tone for the game as HWC outscored Emmetsburg 25-10. 

The E'hawks had 4 players in double figures Erik Drost, Thomas Schultes and Austin Krause each with 12, and Mike Myers with 10.  Western was led by Josh Van Lingen with 25 and Taylor Feenstra with 23 points.  Emmetsburg finishes their season at 8-15 and say goodbye to seniors Brandon Elbert, Michael Pugh, Mike Myers, Shaun Erickson, Erik Drost, Steven Huang and Austin Krause.  HWC improves to 22-0.  Western Christian will play Estherville Tuesday February 25th in Spencer in a Class 2A District 2 Final.

Also in 2A district boys basketball on Saturday, East Sac beat Manson 61-56 and Fort Dodge St. Edmond over South Central Calhoun 60-47
