Class 2A Region 1
Sioux Central had a commanding 2 sets to zero lead over Okoboji in the best of 5, but it was Okoboji winning the next 3 to take the match and advance to substate. Sioux Central won the first game 25-22 and the second 25-19. Okoboji came back and won sets three and four by the scores of 25-23 and 25-23. Then it was all Okoboji in game 5 by the score of 15-8. Okoboji improves to 18-14 while Sioux Central ends their season at 22-10. Okoboji will now take on Western Christian Wednesday night in Hartley for the right to go to state. That match can be heard on Q 102 starting at 7 PM
Class 1A Region 1
Harris-Lake Park saw their season come to an end on Friday night in Algona as Bishop Garrigan defeated the Wolves 3 games to 1 in Class 1A Region 1 Semifinal Volleyball. The Wolves won game one 25-22 but lost the following three games 25-21, 25-19, and 25-22. The Wolves had early leads in games two through four but the Bears used rallies in the middle portion of the games to take the match. In game four, the Wolves rallied down 19-13 and made it 24-22 before eventually falling to the Bears. The Wolves finish their season at 20-14. They say goodbye to seniors Mikaela Heikens and Morgan Eggers. Bishop Garrigan is now 23-17 and faces Central Lyon in Spirit Lake on Wednesday with the winner heading to state. Central Lyon beat Marcus-Meridan-Cleghorn 3-0 on Friday night.
