MINNEAPOLIS – Dan Bailey kicked a 23-yard field goal with 1:49 left in overtime to give the Minnesota Vikings a 27-24 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars Sunday at U.S. Bank Stadium. Bailey had missed two extra points and a 51-yard try with 13 seconds remaining in regulation.
It was the 12th game-winning field goal of Bailey’s career, his first as a Viking. His last game-winner was a 19-yarder vs. Oakland when he was with Dallas in 2017.
Harrison Smith set up Bailey’s redo with an interception at the Jacksonville 46. That was the fourth turnover of the game by the Jaguars.
Justin Jefferson had nine receptions for 121 yards and a touchdown. He’s the second Vikings rookie with 1,000 receiving yards in a season. Randy Moss had 1,313 yards in 1998.
Kirk Cousins finished 28-for-43 for 305 yards and three touchdowns but also threw a pick-six in the win. He has six games with three touchdowns this season, the second most in franchise history.
Dalvin Cook rushed for 120 yards on 32 carries, his 13th career 100-yard rushing game.
The Vikings are now 6-6. They’re at Tampa Bay next Sunday.
Minnesota has jumped into 7th place in the NFC playoff race after Arizona lost to the Los Angeles Rams. The Vikings own the tiebreaker over the Cardinals right now because of a better winning percentage against common opponents.
