It was another great night to run XC in Northwest Iowa! We ran into the toughest
competition yet this year, but our athletes performed extremely well despite our
overall placing! As a team, our girls ran their best meet of the year yet again,
and most of our boys crushed their times from last year!
Okoboji Coach Royce Van Roekel
First on the Girl’s Varsity side. We continue to be amazed with every thing
the girls are doing this year. It was really hard to tell how well they were
doing because of the stiff competition that was there tonight. Our finishing
places were further back in the pack, and as a team we did not score very well,
but we had several or our girls improve greatly on their times tonight. Mallory
Gibson broke into the sub 17 minute times, while Mary Stein and both Grace and
Ali Goehring have set new Overall Personal Records tonight. Olivia Albright
continues to improve and was only 4 seconds away from being in the sub 17
minutes times herself.

On the guy’s varsity side it was more of the same. Both Blake Lineweaver
and Ryan Chindlund ran very well setting new season bests in a very stiff field
of competitors. Connery Sweeney set a new Overall personal record and continues
to get stronger as a first year runner. Adam Dublinske ran his second race ever
on the JV side, but again put up a time that would have been good enough for
fourth best on our varsity squad. Everything is coming together for us. We will
have a nice week to train hard before we begin to taper things for the race to
the end of the year. We are very proud of all of our runners and expect everyone
to continue to improve.
