Spirit Lake played their third game in a calendar week and Brandon Stoll picked up his 3rd win on the mound in that week as Spirit Lake beat Hull Western Christian on Monday night in Spencer by the score of 5-0. During the regular season, HWC beat Spirit Lake twice but on Monday in a sub state Spirit Lake won when it counted and advance to state Monday July 29th.

Spirit Lake was dominate on both the mound and at the plate. Brandon Stoll won for the 3rd time in a week picking up all 3 wins on the mound in the postseason. On Monday, he went 7 innings giving up 0 runs on 4 hits while striking out 12. At the plate, he was 3-4. With the hits last night, Brandon goes over 100 for his high school career and is the 3rd Spirit Lake baseball player to do so. He joins Paul Brown and Mitch Peschon on the list.

HWC finishes their season at 18-10 while Spirit Lake improves to 16-10. They will be the #6 seed in the state tournament and will take on 3rd seeded Carroll Kuemper Catholic Monday at 6 PM at Principal Park in Des Moines. Kuemper has a record of 28-6. Other matchups on Monday has North Polk vs. Albia, Mt. Vernon vs. Roland Story and Dyersville Beckman vs. Waterloo Columbus.
