The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union (IGHSAU) has honored Spencer High School Girls Wrestling Coach Dave Storm with the 2025 Golden Plaque Award. He is the first wrestling coach to receive the award. Storm will be formally recognized during the state girls wrestling tournament at 5:45 p.m. on Friday, February 7, at the Coralville Xtream Arena. Under Storm’s leadership, the Spencer girls wrestling team has had multiple state champions and national place winners.
“This is an immense honor,” said Coach Storm. “Wrestling has always been a passion of mine, and I’m so proud of what the team and I have done together. We are constantly finding new ways to improve and I’m excited for what’s to come.”
Storm was also recognized locally on Monday, January 13, during Spencer High School’s home wrestling dual.
