OPENING DAY IS HERE FOR HUSKIES

The Jackson County Central baseball team begins the season by welcoming archrival Windom Area to Wacker Field on Tuesday.

Brand new Huskies head coach Easton Bahr says there is nothing quite like Opening Day.

JCC collected six wins with a very young team in 2025 and last fielded a winning season in 2021. The Huskies have all-conference talent on the roster including junior Gage Johnson and senior Ben Gallagher.

Windom hasn’t finished with a losing record since 2018. The Eagles finished with 15 wins last year including a 4-2 playoff performance with both losses to section runner-up Montevideo. They return all-conference selection Hayden Tietz.

Coach Bahr says it’s a good measuring stick to start with.

Windom is looking to extend a nine-game winning streak in the rivalry since the Huskies captured back-to-back wins with a 2021 sweep.

Our coverage begins at around 5:15 with the first pitch scheduled for 5:30 on KKOJ Radio and Explore Live Video.

The game and activities are being sponsored by LaCanne Family Celebration of Life Center and Staples Oil and featuring a $10 burger meal deal sponsored by Bridget’s Brew Ha Ha Bar and Grille.
