Both teams got their offenses going in the third quarter, with Okoboji trimming the lead to 37-35 with just 2:00 left in the frame but Unity would answer with a 6-0 run to end the quarter and take a 43-35 lead. The Pioneers were able to get within four points in the fourth quarter but could get no closer as the Knights salted the game away at the free throw line to pull out the 62-51 win. Quotes from John Adams
“I absolutely loved our fight and togetherness we showed tonight. We battled for four quarters but just couldn’t get the corner turned in the fourth. Ava had another very solid game on both ends of the court and I thought Riley and Jocelyn had their best games of the year. We have to clean up the fouling on defense, as it’s hard to win any game when you put a team on the line 37 times, and that will definitely be a focus these next few days in practice. I thought it was a great game in a fun environment as both fan bases were really into the game. Give Unity credit for making the plays down the stretch to win the game.”
