MAVERICKS RALLY PAST COYOTES

The Martin County West baseball team broke into the win column with a home victory over Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda on Tuesday.


Noah Meixell and Liam Pytleski combined for a no-hitter as the Mavericks collected a 7-1 win over the Coyotes.

HLOF took the early lead after a leadoff walk and run scored on an error in the top of the first inning.

MCW tied the game when Kade Fennern hit a double, advanced to third base on a passed ball, and scored on another.

The Mavericks took the lead when Easton Kuehl smacked an RBI double to score Huxley Clow in the fourth.

MCW broke the game open with five runs in the fifth. Meixell hit a two-run double that plated Brock Jagodzinske and Preston Cepress. Fennern hit another two-run double to bring home Pytleski and Meixell. Fennern later scored on a dropped third strike to help make the final score.

Meixell struck out 13 batters over six innings of work while plating a pair of runs and scoring one himself offensively.

The 1-2 Mavericks visit GHEC-T-ML in Truman on Monday.
