ILCC Volleyball & Basketball Add Spencer Athlete

A Spencer High School athlete has signed to play
two sports at Iowa Lakes Community College.  Kirstin Martindale, a Spencer High School Senior,
officially signed a letter of intent Friday morning to play both Volleyball and
Women’s Basketball at Iowa Lakes.  Both coaches are enthusiastic about Martindale’s
future as a Laker.

“Kirstin is a tall, athletic person, with a lot of
volleyball potential,” said Megan Bezdicek, Head Volleyball Coach.  “She
understands the game really well and is very versatile.  Her ability to hit from
all positions in the front row will give us a lot of options this
fall.”

She will bring a great deal of experience in
basketball as well.  “Her ability to rebound and score will make an
instant impact,” said Nicole Bullock, Head Coach of the Women’s Basketball
team.  “She brings size and athleticism to our team.  We look forward to having
Kirstin as part of our program for two years.”

Martindale has played on the varsity squads of both
Volleyball and Basketball at Spencer High School, lettering four years in
Volleyball and three years in Basketball.  In Volleyball, she averages two kills
per set, two digs per set and .5 blocks per set.  In Basketball, she averages
11.2 rebounds and 11.3 points per game.  She has received a multitude of awards
– both locally and statewide – in both sports.

Academically, Martindale plans to take general
coursework to receive her Associate in Arts Degree and then transfer to a
four-year college.

Kirstin is the daughter of Teresa and Don Martindale of Spencer.
