The Iowa Lakes men’s golf team was in action, Monday, at the NJCAA Region XI golf tournament. After round 1 the lakers find themselves in 4th place 8 shots out of the lead of Kirkwood. The Lakers shot a first day score of 314 led by freshman Brandon Klein with a 75. Jeremy Wollenburg shot a 79. Austin Sweeney and Blake Orton both came in with 80s. Non-counting score was Ben Nath with an 81.
“The battled out there and to be 8 shots out of the lead, well we are right there. We need to have a good day tomorrow to make a run at it. Brandon had a great round today he needs to keep doing what he’s doing.” Said Coach Soper.
The Lakers tee off at 9 am Tuesday at Hunter Ridge Golf Course in Marion, IA for the final round of the Region 11 golf tournament, with a chance to go to the National Tournament in Scotsboro Alabama.
