In recent years, more and more attention is being paid to the effects of concussions on athletes, from the pro-level down to school age kids. A doctor originally from Sanborn has developed and I-Pad app that helps aid in the assessment of an athlete who may be suffering from a concussion. Dr. Jay Alberts is now at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio. Studies of the app began at the Cleveland Clinic, but now Dr. Alberts has placed the new app in an area school, Boyden Hull Rock Valley.
Dr. Alberts adds, he wants to be sure that the program is benifitting Boyden Hull Rock Valley.
The app is called C3. It’s already being used to monitor more than 6000 athletes in 56 high schools in Northeast Ohio, along with several colleges in that state. He feels the app will be ready for widespread distribution by the end of the year and invites any school officials who want to learn more to contact him via email. His address is albertj@ccf.org
