Huskies Steamroll Falcons to Begin Postseason

The Jackson County Central wrestling team steamrolled past Red Rock Central in the Section 3A Tournament to begin their quest for a sixth straight title on Thursday night.

The Falcons took down the Luverne Cardinals 41-36 in the first round.

RRC started with a pin in the quarterfinal but JCC took the next 12 matches to advance.

Colten Gossen put JCC on the board with a technical fall and Ever Munoz Mazariegos pinned down a win for a Huskies lead they would never give back. Mathias Liepold took a forfeit before a pair of pins for Isaac Rodriguez and Kyler Thier. Dallas Gossen and Evan Bartholomaus each accepted a forfeit. Carson Kolander worked his way to a major decision. Cael Entriken took a forfeit. Karsin Janssen punctuated the night with a third period pin for the 69-6 final score.

The 18-3 Huskies advance to the semifinals at Wabasso High School on Saturday. Our coverage begins at 12:15 on KKOJ.

It’s all chalk in the section bracket so far. JCC will face Fulda/Murray County Central after the 49-20 Warriors win over Tracy-Milroy-Balaton/Westbrook-Walnut Grove. Redwood Valley advanced past Springfield 56-12 in the first round. Adrian Area rolled past RV 58-15 to the semifinals. The Dragons get Pipestone Area after the Arrows won 35-28 over Wabasso.
