The Jackson County Central boys basketball team pulled away from Fairmont in Windom on Tuesday night to advance in the Section 3AA Tournament.
The #2 South seed Huskies beat the #3 South seed Cardinals 70-52 in the sub-section semifinal and section quarterfinal round.
JCC took the first lead 9-0 early on but Fairmont battled back to lead 12-11 before the Huskies regained the lead and never relinquished it. They built a 33-22 halftime lead and extended it to 19 points during the second half before winning by that 70-52 final score.
Huskies head coach Alex Hein says it was one of their best performances of the season.

Roman Voss and Blaise Rowe co-led the team with 19 points and three steals each. Voss added 11 rebounds for a double-double. He scored 15 in the second half. Blaise Rowe made five three-pointers on the night. Weston Rowe led all scorers for most of the night and finished with 17 points including a trio of made threes plus a near double-double with nine rebounds.
Ben Gallagher scored six points and dished out a team-high four assists. Mason Foster put in four points, Sullivan Hall added three points, and Carter Buhl had two points.
The 23-6 Huskies get state-ranked and top South seed Montevideo in the sub-section title on Saturday. The Thunderhawks outlasted the Luverne Cardinals 74-61 in the first Tuesday semifinal.

Top-ranked Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta routed North #4 seed New London-Spicer 69-37 and Minnewaska Area pulled a mild 3v2 upset 60-55 over Litchfield. The North sub-section championship is being played at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday at SMSU. The section title game happens on Thursday, March 12, with the tip-off at 8:00 p.m. at SMSU.
